Our Services

Racecar Jewelry provides customers with exclusive custom jewelry services that ensure quality craftsmanship every step of the way. If you don't see a service listed, that doesn't mean we can't do it. Get in touch to discuss what you're looking for — we're happy to assist you further.

Mold Making

We offer a wide range of mold sizes and utilize various molding compounds to suit different project requirements. For production purposes, we primarily use high-quality, heat-cured silicone rubber due to its durability and long lifespan. RTV (room-temperature vulcanized) rubber is typically reserved for initial molding as a safety precaution, especially when working with delicate or irreplaceable originals. All molds created in our facility are cataloged and securely stored in-house using a customer-specific tracking system to ensure accuracy and efficiency in fulfilling repeat orders. Your original model will be returned to you for safekeeping. We strongly advise against selling or discarding the original, as it may be needed to create a new mold if the existing one becomes damaged or unusable.

Model Casting

Model casting services aid in the process of designing jewelry. For your convenience, our team can produce machined casts, hand-carved waxes, or rapid prototypes. We also encourage customers to supply their own models if they prefer. Precious metal clay (PMC) or art clay (cured) works well for models if you are not using lost wax. If you supply your own models, we ask that they be clean and free of antiquing oil or debris.

Metal Casting

  • Yellow Spring Gold - 14K-18K

Pewter Casting

We also offer pewter (tin). Pewter is best suited for large-volume orders. Pewter is cast directly into special round rubber molds. The original models for pewter need to be thicker than those for bronze or silver, as pewter castings are much softer. Jump rings or attachment rings in pewter must be quite thick, or they will quickly wear out or break off. The minimum thickness for a pewter model should be no less than 2 millimeters. In some cases—such as belt buckles or larger pieces—the model may need to be even thicker. Production pewter prices can be nearly half the cost of bronze castings, but the quality must meet production standards. Individual initial tooling and production costs start at $300.
